Shangri-La Hotels comes to Chongqing

February 8, 2010: Shangri-La Hotels has signed an agreement with Chongqing Guest House to manage a hotel in Chongqing that is scheduled to open in late 2011.

Shangri-La in Chongqing will be opening in late 2011 with the 469-room hotel occupying the first 28 floors of a new 58-story landmark building, a multi-purpose complex incorporating office space and innovative retail outlets.
 
Designed by the East China Architectural Design Institute, the hotel will be located in the central business district, 45 minutes from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.
The hotel will feature the largest standard guestrooms in the city with a minimum room size of 45 square meters. 
The new Shangri-La hotel will be a MICE hotel – meetings, incentives, conference, exhibitions – with 2,000 square meters of meeting and banqueting space, including a 1,000-square-meter ballroom with 12-meter high ceiling complemented by 10 function rooms.
 
PR NewsWire claims Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, currently owns and/or manages 65 hotels under the deluxe Shangri-La and mid-market Traders brands.
