Airports handle 20% more passengers

The Civil Aviation Administration of China said that last year passengers made 449 million trips on domestic routes, rising 22% from a year earlier, and 37.05 million trips on international routes, declining 1.9%.

 

Ally Ma, a Citigroup analyst, said, "Considering volume driven by the World Expo and the Asian Games, we project Chinese air travel to grow 18% this year and push load factors to a record high of 79% with a corresponding double-digit increase in airfares."

 

Fourteen out of 166 Mainland airports each delivered more than 10 million passengers last year, compared with 10 airports in 2008.

Shanghai Daily reported fifty-one airports delivered more than 1 million passengers each last year, compared with 47 airports in 2008. 

The airports handled 9.46 million tons of cargo last year, rising 7.04% on the year.
