China broadband users soar over 100m

[photopress:Interent_users_in_cafe.jpg,full,alignright]China Internet Network Information Center has announced that China now has 137 million Internet users on the mainland, up 23.4% from a year ago. Among them, 104 million netizens surf the Internet via broadband, which accounted for 75.9% of the total.

The proportion of male netizens was 58.3% out of the 137 million survey. Urban residents are 6.5 times more likely to be netizens that those who live in rural areas. he number of broadband computers reached 41.2 million -- 69.4 % of the Internet accessible computers.

By the end of last year, China had 4.11 million domain names. About 1.8 million names ended with '.cn,' up 64.4 % from the 1.1 million a year ago, which grew much faster than the growth of '.com'.

During the same period, China owned about 840,000 Websites as well as 17 million online mobile phone users, which accounted for 12.4% of the total netizens.
