Using money to stop counterfeits

November 6, 2007

[photopress:IT_rmb_note_counterfiet.jpg,full,alignright]This is a wonderful idea which works where there is a printed currency note of lowish value AND where the procedure is not illegal which it is, according to a lawyer specializing in this area, in the United Kingdom and Australia. Seems likely it is illegal in the United Sates as well.

A type of unique counterfeit-proof concert tickets made its debut in Xiamen, a costal city in southeast China's Fujian province. Organizers of a music concert of Jacky Cheung, a Hong Kong superstar made special concert tickets by attaching a one-yuan note to the back of the tickets, with the ticket's code identical to the code of the RMB note. Which effectivly stops counterfeits. Ingenious idea but a fair bet is that it will never be allowed again.
