New Evergreen service links China/USA ports

April 13, 2009

New Evergreen service links China/USA portsEvergreen Line is improving its U.S. East Coast Service, China South, U.S. West Coast services,

Logistics Management reports this will now provide faster transit times from the key ports of Shanghai to Los Angeles. From Shanghai the transit times has been reduced to 12 days.

The new port rotation will be Xingang — Qingdao — Shanghai — Ningbo — Los Angeles — Oakland — Xingang. The first vessel is just about to sail from Xingang.

Another service, which offers direct sailing between Asia and the U.S. East Coast, will now offer a transit time of 24 days between Yantian and Savannah.

Taipei — Hong Kong — Yantian — Kaohsiung — Colon Container Terminal — Savannah — New York — Baltimore — Colon Container Terminal — Taipei

In a sense this is spreading the load and fits in with the stated views of shipping analysts the days of 'mega' U.S. seaports may be behind us and marginal ocean cargo gateways will gain share.
