British Olympic team to train in Macau ahead of Beijing Olympics
December 4th, 2007The British Olympic team will train in Macau ahead of the Beijing Games.
The British Olympic Association said it would use the sporting facilities on the island next year for three weeks prior to the games.
BOA chief executive Simon Clegg said, ‘It embraces both the athletes’ needs, providing top quality training facilities in a safe and secure environment and enhances the BOA’s aspiration to create a Team Great Britain ethos.’
The BOA also held a training camp in northern Australia before the 2000 Sydney Games, and in Cyprus before the 2004 Athens Games.
While most training by the British team will be based in Macau, several others will need additional locations, including canoing, rowing, equestrian, cycling, diving, equestrian, modern pentathlon, sailing, swimming, tennis and triathlon. Our illustration is of the Macau Olympics Pool.
