Synaptics Inc., the world's largest maker of touchpads for notebook computers, announced Thursday collaboration with Taiwanese panel maker Chimei Innolux Inc. to bring thinner touch displays to the mobile market, Taiwan's official Central News Agency reported.
The Santa Clara, California-based company will partner with Chimei Innolux to leverage their industry core capabilities to deliver a cutting edge 4-inch in-cell touch display to smartphone original equipment manufacturers, it said in a statement.
Combined with Chimei Innolux's low-temperature poly-silicon technology -- a transistor type used in the flat-panel display industry, the ClearPad 4260 in-cell display delivers a leading capacitive touch solution and is ready for mass production in the fourth quarter of 2012, the news agency reported.
