Businesses are willing to offer higher starting salaries to new college graduates this year but the amount still falls short of the expectations of new graduates, accordingto the results of a poll released Thursday by 1111 job bank, Taiwan's official Central News Agency reported.
The average monthly starting salary is NT$25,009 (US$837) this year, up NT$1,359 from the figure recorded in a similarpoll conducted in 2011. Despite this, the graduates polled this year said on average thatthey expect a salary of NT$28,081, which is NT$3,072 more than the average starting salary offered by businesses, the news agency reported.
