Taiwan recorded a jobless rate of 4.21 percent in June, up 0.09 percentage points from the previous month but down 0.14 percentage points from a year earlier, the island's statistics authorities announced Monday, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The number of employed people in June climbed to 10.85 million on the island, up 0.18 percent from May and up 1.47 percent year-on-year. The jobless population in June increased to 477,000, up 11,000 from a month earlier, mainly due to an influx of new school graduates into the job market, according to the authorities, the news agency said.
