The Ministry of Economic Affairs has set up a center to help manufacturers affected by flooding to recover after days of torrential rain caused widespread damage around Taiwan, the ministry said Wednesday, Taiwan's official News Agency reported.

The center will offer affected manufacturers tax breaks to make up for the losses suffered in the flooding and give them access to loans, pumps and waste-cleaning services to help them get back on track.

Estimates of losses suffered by 25 manufacturers in northern Taiwan have been calculated at over NT$70 million (US$2.3 million), the news agency said, citing the ministry.
