Donald Trump warned Pyongyang that America would "totally destroy" North Korea if forced to defend itself or its allies, as the US president used his debut address to the UN general assembly to issue stark threats to a "wicked few" oppressive regimes, the Financial Times reports. "Rocket man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime," Trump said in a reference to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un that brought the casual explosive rhetoric of his Twitter feed to the UN. Trump said that while the US had "great strength and patience," it would respond forcefully to any attack from Kim's regime. "If… forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea," he said, in his harshest warning yet to Pyongyang. "The United States is ready, willing, and able, but hopefully this will not be necessary… That's what the United Nations is for. Let's see how they do."
