They might be giants

This week in China

This just in: China is building an army of huge electronic giants! These giant Zords will act as first defense against the ever looming threats of Godzilla and Panda Kong, as China must fend for itself after the Power Rangers officially sided with the Japanese. APac security watchers are up in arms…Oh, what’s that you say? Electronics giants not electronic giants? And those steel giants we heard they’re working on also aren’t what we were thinking either? Someone has to write these headlines more carefully. Apparently China is merely creating giant figurative state champions in the electronics sector, aiming to consolidate until there are five to eight electronics firms with sales of more than RMB100 billion by 2015. Meanwhile, a great leap toward giving China’s top 10 steel mills 60% of capacity will surely have them buying every backyard furnace faster than you can say pig iron.

For futurists out there who are disappointed about no giant automatons, you can at least look forward to forthcoming mainland release of Porsche’s space age supercar. While it’s unclear whether the 918 Spyder will be modified for the China market, we have our suspicions: Tibetan mastiff fur seats, a Moutai dispenser and a warrantee that covers sex-game-related accidents. If you have US$2.2 million dollars, who needs Zords anyway.
